Health Care Issues of Children Must be Taken care of

Causes of food allergies in children

There are several health care issues in children, which cause major ailments. Some of them are caused due to food allergies in children, child maltreatment and initial child development problems. The major food allergies in children can be caused by the following reason:

  • Milk -About 2.5 percent of children are allergic to milk. Usually, the milk proteins of whey and casein cause the allergy. However, there are cases where the sugar in the lactose of the milk might cause a certain kind of intolerance in children that can worsen with age if not treated properly. Sometimes children might get treated for this allergy but with time this allergy might indirectly cause other allergies like nasal allergy etc.

  • Wheat- Many children who are allergic to wheat do not necessarily show any allergic reaction as well. They might suffer from several kinds of immunological reaction caused due to wheat allergy.

  • Egg- Egg is the most common kind of allergy that children all over the world might have. The solution to this is the influenza vaccine and the MMR vaccine, which can treat egg allergy in the best way possible.

Besides these children might have different allergies to peanut, seafood, soy and tree nut too. Once detected it is easier to keep children away from these.

Growth of child malnutrition in the world

World Health Organisation has defined child maltreatment as a broad category, which comprises sexual, physical and emotional abuse, exploitation and neglect in general meted out to any particular child. WHO has recorded statistics of almost 20 percent women undergoing abuse in their childhood and 5-10 percent of men being subjected to sexual abuse while 25-50 percent of people are victims of physical abuse. If an intimate friend of a child is abused, even then it can be counted as a means of maltreatment in the child. Maltreatment of children can have grave consequences affecting a child’s mental and physical health at the end. This can in turn affect a country’s economic development and growth adversely.

This is why the maltreatment of children should be prevented if possible through different means. One of the best ways to prevent this is by ensuring that a child is constantly under the parental and family care. These days there are many programmes, which are geared towards teaching and guiding parents on how to combat the possible maltreatments of their children. The biggest trouble with maltreatment of children is that while it is a global and universal problem, it is never easy to analyse this problem and find a solution to it effectively especially in the developing countries.

There are various causes of maltreatment that are deeply embedded in the gender inequalities of society or in the rising level of poverty and unemployment. Effective preventive programmes can actually save many children from maltreatment that can lead to repressed trauma at the end. However, besides this the other thing required is severe parental awareness. It is important to keep your eyes and ears open as to keep track of whether anything is wrong with the children or whether they are uncomfortable and are unable to share something they would like to but are scared of it.

Steps to be taken for proper child development

Initial child development is also crucial in determining the various health care issues that might be bothering children. In most of the developing countries anti polio is not administered to numerous children. Further, on a physical level parents are not aware of various immunity vaccinations that can save their children from severe ailments in the future. Moreover, the right kind of diet and hygiene habits goes a long way in deciding the nutrition intake and general health of the child.
